About the Testlab
Our homebase is at the University Medical Center in Utrecht and we offer modular test services providing customizable setups at various scales and environments (small to large scale, and in silico to in vitro and in vivo). Our testlab aims at facilitating preclinical studies for dialysis innovations in a streamlined pipeline to get these innovations from bench to bedside. We offer dialysis simulation experiments on multiple scales (small, medium, large) starting at volumes less than 50 mL and going up to real dialysis scale with volumes of 180L. We can measure all relevant uremic toxins (e.g. urea, creatinine, in-line and real-time protein bound uremic toxins, etc) and perform in-vitro experiments with aqueous solutions, whole blood and (uremic) plasma. For in-vivo experiments we have validated uremic animal models (goat, pig, and soon rat). Furthermore, we offer precise control over flow, pressure and temperature. Finally, our medical technology and clinical physics department is ISO13485 certified ensuring high quality support for development of medical devices for future clinical trials. Additionally, we offer a rapid prototyping facility to develop custom components that are required for testing.
The realization of the testlab has been enabled by the NXTGEN Hightech growth fund.

About NXTGEN Hightech
This project is made possible in part by a contribution from the National Growth Fund program NXTGEN
Hightech. With over 330 partners, in more than 60 projects and in six essential domains, this program
will make a significant contribution to the structural and sustainable economic growth in the Netherlands
and offer solutions for the major societal challenges in the areas of energy transition, health, safety and
food.
Including the contribution of € 450 million from the National Growth Fund, NXTGEN Hightech will invest
approximately € 1 billion until 2030. In doing so, we will realize an internationally leading ecosystem for
high-tech equipment in the Netherlands, which will rank among the top three in Europe at least and make
an additional contribution to Dutch GNP of € 6 to 11 billion per year. We will develop a new generation of
high-tech equipment for the future generation of Dutch people: our children. For more information, click the button below
